In this stressful high-strung world, savoring a quiet moment of life is a precious gift and an oddity to some. All the gadgets and distractions in the world that stimulate every known sense make it very challenging to pause and enjoy just being alive. Big city life and rural living are extreme opposites and going from one to the other can be a literal shock to the system. The city provides necessary products and services, but the health sacrifice that's involved with taking care of those needs is often too overwhelming. When you're in the city every sense is stimulated and in some respects, assaulted. The noise hurts the ears. The air pollution hurts the nasal passages and the lungs. The overwhelming human population and air pollution irritants overwhelm the eyesight, irritate the eyeballs and cornea, and can even affect the taste buds. If you're not paying attention to your surroundings, it's easy to be injured by something or someone crossing your path.

Let's return to the quiet rural environment. When you're far away from the insane city something marvelous happens. You can hear the beautiful wind blowing and rustling through the trees. You can hear birds chirping and flapping their wings. Providing there are no commercial farms or residents using petro-chemical pesticides, you can breathe the fresh clean air and relax. You can enjoy a fresh healthy meal with peace and quiet and you can actually enjoy the flavor. Nature can be enjoyed providing you're in a region where nature and the wildlife are respected. Your hands can enjoy the feel of a soft blade of grass or a beautiful gentle flower. There are also the beautiful dragonflies and hummingbirds that make the most beautiful gentle music as they fly gracefully through the air by your ears. The nighttime chorus of crickets fills the air with their music and can replace any synthetic pharmaceutical sedative. The beautiful starry sky is a beautiful feast for the eyes. Nature is wonderful for the soul.
