Give Children Healthy Organic Treats This Halloween

candy.jpgCelebrate this Halloween 2007 in a healthy organic manner. Trick-or-Treating is as popular today as it was 2,000 years ago when All Hallow's Eve was celebrated as a Holiday by the Celts in the Ancient British Isles. During that era, the Pagans, Celts, and Druids would go from door to door holding an empty basket, asking for fruit and whatever treats the residents would give them. Later in the evening, everyone would gather together in a festival, dancing, singing, playing, and enjoying the foods they were given.

People still enjoy the tradition of Trick-or-Treating, but Halloween has significantly changed. Upon nightfall, children throughout North America knock on residential doors asking for sweet Halloween treats. The greeter at the door often has a basket of sweet candy treats ready to give to children dressed in creative Halloween costumes. At the end of a busy evening of Trick-or-Treating, the children return home to admire their large quantity of candy treats. This Halloween, give children healthier snacks. It's best to buy only those snacks that are organic, healthy, and natural. Shop in your local health food store or the organic section of your local supermarket. Look for healthy candy treats that are sweetened with fructose, Stevia, Agave, organic sugar, organic evaporated cane juice, evaporated cane juice, or brown rice syrup. Look for chocolate or carob sweets that contain only non-dairy ingredients, such as soymilk, rice milk, almond milk, and soy lecithin. Be sure that the products contain only safe, natural, organic colourings. Show children that you care about their health by voting with your wallet. Please carefully read the label. Happy Halloween.
