Kick The "Meat Habit" on March 20, The Great American Meatout

meatout.jpgMarch 20 is the Great American Meatout Day; a day dedicated to raising awareness about the unhealthy downfalls of eating meat. Men, women, and children in all 50 U.S. States and two dozen other countries will host informative booths, gatherings, festivals, lectures, workshops, seminars, and various other events to raise awareness about the benefits of a non-meat vegetarian diet. Every Spring, thousands of Meatout supporters ask their families, friends, and community members to kick the meat habit for a day or longer and explore a healthier more compassionate plant-based diet.

A pure vegetarian diet consisting of whole grains, vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds, and nuts is very healthy and will contribute to a life of longevity, fewer degenerative diseases, and happiness. The Great American Meatout is a wonderful opportunity to pause and think about how we can improve our lives, the thousands of animals' lives being spared when we adapt a vegetarian diet, and the health of Planet Earth. The next time you are about to sit down to eat a plate of food, stop a moment and think about the origin of the food. Ask yourself a question. Is this meal going to quicken me, make me sick, and possibly shorten my lifespan? If the answer is "Yes", then perhaps it's time to consider a diet that is lighter and healthier for you, the animals, and the environment.
