Market Study: Top 10 Kids Snacks

kids snacksThe NPD Group recently released a new study on the biggest trends in snack-oriented foods among kids ages 2-17. Here is the list:

1. Yogurt (refrigerated)

2. Potato Chips

3. Fresh Fruit

4. String Cheese/Prepackaged Cheese Cubes/Shapes

5. Hard Candy

6. Ice/Fudge/Cream Pops

7. Chewy Candy

8. Corn Chips

9. Donuts

10. Snack Pies/Pastries

Obviously, yogurt, cheese and fruit are more or less ok. But the other 7 items? Brutal.

Where are vegetables, rice cakes or nuts? 7 out of 10 items on this list could easily increase the risk of diabetes. What 'healthy' snacks do you feed your kids?

I usually give them cut up apples, grapes or yogurt. And I have those fish crackers that my two year old loves.

But she is really fussy. She wont eat veggies in any kinf of way. She loves pastas and if I try to add them in it she seperates them. And only eat the pasta. She wont eaven eat pizza. I was told once not to hide them in a muffin or nuggets because then she will never know what she eats. And wont ever want to eat themwhen I serve the actual veggie. I'm not sure what I did wrong.
