An integral part of caring for your appearance is having healthy beautiful hair. For many people, having healthy hair isn't just about keeping it clean and vibrant. It's also about having vibrant colour. Older men and women want to either cover up gray or experiment with different colour altogether. As fashion and beauty trends become more challenging, many youth like to explore modern styles and colours. Desired looks often begin with a slight colour change and expand to highlights and then dramatic changes in hair colour to the point where the hair and scalp are enduring tremendous stressful processes. Hair colour treatment is big business in North America. Salons across North America offer elaborate expensive services for men and women who want to dramatically alter their hair's appearance. Many people get a professional makeover to prepare for special occasions. A fresh beautiful appearance is great, but putting your hair, scalp, and skin cells through the chemical abuse that every hair makeover entails does not justify the treatment. All commercial hair colour products contain harmful toxic petro-chemical irritants, including those advertised as "natural" and "containing new natural ingredients without ammonia". Ammonia, formaldehyde, and FD&C are just a few of the chemicals in the toxic soup of these hair colour products.
It's time for a new approach to beauty. There are only three hair colour methods that are safe and non-toxic. With proper instruction, you can use natural henna from a health food store and apply it yourself. You can do it yourself with an organic, non-toxic, chemical-free hair colour product, if you can find it in the health food store. You can also get professional non-toxic hair colour treatment from an Aveda Concept Salon. Your 4th option is to be happy with your natural colour or gray and do your best to keep your hair clean, styled, and looking naturally beautiful. Good health is more important than an elaborate attractive appearance.

That may be true, but until Aveda, no hair salon has ever attempted to make as many natural and environmentally cognisant efforts to reduce toxicity. While there will be people who will choose to dye their hair regularly or sporadically, by their own volition and preference, Aveda's commitment is to provide the least toxic and most natural and damage preventative methods to achieve your goals. I think it's brilliant

I think more research should go into Aveda before it being toted as a non-toxic hair coloring service. Though the company does have a great deal of natural ingredients within their products, to be able to deliver a service that lifts the hair many levels in color is far from non-toxic. It is perhaps a more gentle chemical service, but by no means is it natural.
