Organic composting is one of the most important efficient things you can do to contribute to healthy sustainable living and a lighter footprint on the planet. Compost is an accumulated collection of unused foodstuff plant material scraps that are leftover from a prepared meal. When you prepare a meal, fruits, herbs, and vegetables are cut and chopped and mixed together to form a meal. When these foods are chopped, skins, seeds, peels, and other scraps are removed and discarded rather than included in the meal. The common practice is to discard these plant materials in the trash. The problem with this is that this is a total waste and inefficient. The trash is taken to a landfill where it rots for many years and has no chance to make a positive contribution to the world.
The more efficient sustainable practice is to collect the plant material in a clean dry bucket or container. When the container is full take the container to your garden, if you have one, and make a compost heap with it. It's easy and simple. All you have to do is create a large enough hole in the dirt to fit all the table plant scraps, add some dry hay and mulch to prevent slimy moisture, and mix in the plant material scraps. Use a shovel to dig and thoroughly mix the plant scraps, hay, and mulch and you're done. By doing this you're doing three important efficient things. You're putting the plant material back into the earth, which allows it to regenerate and biodegrade. You're reducing garbage and landfill toxins. Thirdly, something wonderful happens. If you have a garden, the seeds from the fruit scraps will be planted and with rain and working the soil, these seeds will grow fruits in your garden. This is true regenerating sustainable living.
