Another fun part of celebrating Halloween is decorating the house. Decorating your home is a wonderful way to enjoy the Spirit of Halloween and add a festive Spirit to the atmosphere. This Halloween, give your home a festive Spirit in a green sustainable manner. Whether you decorate your home as a spooky haunted house or a funky place that attracts paranormal activity, do it in a way that's green and sustainable, reducing the environmental toll. Providing they're made from non-toxic materials, you can reuse your own decorations.
When shopping for materials and decorations, vote with your wallet by purchasing them from an environmentally aware store or a store that sells sustainable materials. To create those spooky wispy white environments, use soft natural white cotton balls that come apart easily and natural cotton white fabric that you can cut or shred in pieces. To decorate your walls and furniture with creepy crawlers, like spiders, purchase those items that are either made from soft natural felt or velvet or non-toxic plastic. You'll find these items in a store where merchandise tends to cost more than $1.00 for each item. The cheap poorly made plastic and rubber merchandise is processed with petroleum and other toxic petro-chemicals. As a result, it is easy to smell the horrible stink of petroleum in and through the package. Don't try to rinse or wash the plastic product, thinking that you might wash away the petroleum stink. Believe me, I've tried and it does not work. It's safer and more sensible to purchase your items from a store that sells quality merchandise that was made with quality and integrity. For decorative streamers, use paper that is made from organic sustainable fibers and dyed only with non-toxic earth-friendly color dyes. Everyone can enjoy a festive Halloween in a sustainable non-toxic manner.
