In the era of the coal miners, miners would take a caged canary into the mine to detect coal deposits. If there was any coal residue in the mine, the canary would fall to its death and the miners knew they had only minutes to escape before the mine would explode. Today, the public is a bunch of canaries and we are unknowingly being used as guinea pigs for the fragrance industry. The one fighting tool we have is education. Fragrance sensitivity affects more than 15% of the population in North America. That number is increasing. In the U.S., the FDA does not regulate the fragrance industry. Environmental health experts say that of the 5,000 different chemicals used in the manufacturing process of fragrance products, less than 20% have been tested for toxicity levels. Fragrance products include perfume, shampoo, body splash, moisturizer, makeup, deodorant, facial cleanser, hand soap and more. All mainstream personal care products and cosmetics contain petro-chemical irritants, pesticides, and adulterated fragrance. Some people don't suffer from fragrance sensitivity because they have daily exposure to mainstream fragrance products.
Because they consistently use fragrance products, their nervous system and cells are accustomed to the exposure, creating an addiction. Fragrance sensitive people use only natural earth-friendly products with organic plant essences. Attracting the opposite sex is a strong motivator to want to smell good. People are discovering that those they're trying to attract are actually repelled by the synthetic scent. The sensible healthy choice is to use pure organic essential oils, the life-blood of plants. Essential oils of peppermint, lemon, lemongrass, lavender, sandalwood, patchouli, orange, rosewood, sage, and spruce are wonderful oils for a healthy beautiful scent. It's easy and simple to be healthy, clean, organic, and green. There's no reason to believe that cleanliness and smelling good are only available in a bottle of toxic sludge. There are many people who are naturally healthy and clean and successfully interact with the public. The Internet abounds with information for organic pure essential oils and personal care hygiene products.
