Thunderstorms are phenomenal at cleaning and detoxifying chemically contaminated clothing. One of the difficulties asthmatic and chemically sensitive people have to endure is buying secondhand clothing from a thrift store that is permeated with fragrance. Many people prefer to buy their clothing from a secondhand thrift store because it's more economical. The problem is that all of the clothing is washed with toxic mainstream detergent, which contains harmful petro-chemical irritants. When I return home, the first thing I do is hang my newly bought clothing items on the clothesline to air them out and eliminate the fragrance stink. I then wait for a powerful thunderstorm to finish the job.
Thunderstorms are great for cleaning and decontaminating scented clothing. Once I hang them on the clothesline, I walk away and let the thunderstorm do its magic. The combination of the fresh clean wind, the powerful lightning and fresh rain is a very powerful cleanser. Lightning contains negative ions that put out negative ionic charges, which clean the clothes, removing all contaminants and odors. The combination of fresh clean rain and fresh clean wind provides a wonderful cleaning system for clothing. The end result after I hang the scented clothing on the clothesline is remarkable. The clothes are drenched and completely free of any toxic smelly fragrance residue. It's such a relief to be able to handle the clothes and not feel ill from the smell. I then wash the clothes in my own washing machine and now have fresh clean odor-free clothes. I use Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, white vinegar, baking soda, and Borax to clean my clothes, so my clothing always comes out looking and smelling very clean.
